Hello Gift Shop Hub! This is Sai from The Taste Buds, bringing you a little bit of teatime mischief for a change. As it’s National Cream Tea Day today (30 June), let’s look at cards and gifts celebrating teatime. Go on, grab a cuppa and have a nice little sit down with me.
At The Taste Buds HQ we’re all about comical food characters and plenty of groan-inducing puns and wordplay. Including treats you carrot cake your eyes off…
We play with language and cultural foods in our designs, and run workshops in schools too. So, do have a look on our website to find out more about our greeting card ranges, gifts and a rather stunning little colour-changing enamel pin.
But enough about me, I’m actually here to tell you all about some of my favourite equally teatime-treat-obsessed illustrators, crafters and gift-creators. They’re amazingly lovely, and I think everyone should know about them.
People usually say don’t work with animals, but not only does Nikky from Innabox have a cat assistant, she cleverly combines animals and food into punny jewellery, gifts and cards which make everyone giggle.
Innabox’s cute and quirky range of enamel pins and patches are loved by all, and Nikky’s just kicked off her second Kickstarter campaign to fund a pin for tea (and cat!) fans everywhere.
Hailing all the way from beautiful Hawai’i is Jenn and her handmade polymer clay jewellery, which are the sweetest accessories you’ll ever see. Such realistically cute desserts, it takes all of my willpower to not put my own Bakery Charms necklace in my mouth!
There are also a variety of charm subscriptions, bringing you the happiest post each month. As Jenn says, ‘you can have your cake and wear it too.’
If you love happy colours, biscuits and cake then Sarah’s illustrations are perfect for you. And it doesn’t matter which biscuit is your favourite guilty pleasure at teatime, Pineapple Lobster have them all covered.
As the kind of person who notices foods in movies, it was Sarah’s Mendl’s Patisserie illustration that caught my attention…it’s simply too lush for words.
Do have a look at all the wonderous delights these lovelies have to offer, and if you’re looking for more in the foody-illustration world, why not have a look at They Draw And Cook. Just please refrain from licking the screen.
Hmm, time for a little smackerel of something methinks.
